Reasons to be cheerful - 14th September 2017

A busy week as ever, but here are my reasons to be cheerful this week...

1) Upping my exercise
I've made a conscious decision recently to walk more. I walk most places anyway, so I've been deliberately taking the longer routes to my usual destinations, just to add to the mix. And it's paying off as I've lost weight too (3lbs).

2) Another commission
Another pitch turned into a successful writing commission. To a new market for me too, which is always nice. Having recently decided to return to professional writing after a year off it's good to see that I haven't lost my touch.

3) Simplifying things
I had been using six different diaries, planners and notebooks and I was part of several social media communities for planner people and it was actually just overwhelming! So, I got rid of them all except for an ordinary week-to-view diary and one notebook.

I also left a whole pile of online communities and immediately felt better.

Don't get me wrong, the problem wasn't them, it was me. I got completely immersed in the whole thing and it ended up getting in the way of actually getting anything useful done, so just removing the distraction from my life has made a huge difference.

My next plan is to find a way to block all but the basic functions on my phone so that I can't distract myself when I should be working (more about that in another post).

I hope your week has been as positive as mine xx

  1. Exercise makes me smile too and so would that weight loss! I hope the work continues to grow. You are right that cutting back on things can make life a lot less stressful.

  3. I left a lot of on line groups recently because I was feeling overwhelmed, and it's really helped, hope it helps you and well done with the exercise and writing commissions (oftencalledcathy #R2BC)

Reasons to be cheerful - 5th October 2017

It's a quickie this week... I'm still loving my job and really glad that I made the move. I submitted two commissioned articles to editors and they were happy. I'm off on a trip, a couple of nights away (more on that next week). Hope you've had a great week too.

Reasons to be cheerful - 7th December 2017

1) After a day of sawing, drilling, cutting, etc, etc, and then a new bit in the boiler...We have gas! Yes, our heating, hot water and cooker are now working - the gas is fixed! SO happy after 12 days without it.

2) This morning Boyzilla was greeted by a dead RAT outside the sitting room. Whilst yucky (but not as yucky as if I'd had to clean it up), it makes me hugely proud that my cats are, well, cats.

3) The two planning tools I ordered for 2018 to help me move forward with my plans to do more writing have arrived and I'm looking forward to spending big chunks of the next four days exploring them and planning for a fantabulous year.
