My day (in painful detail)

I've written about planning my weeks and days before, but my friend Annmarie is intrigued to know more about how I divide my time, so here (in painful detail), is how I spend a typical day.

It all starts the day before

I try and stop work at around 5pm, sometimes that doesn't work, it depends what I'm doing, but the last thing I do before I finish for the day is my diary for the next day. I check what appointments I have, what work I need to do for clients and what I need to do for myself and write it down

I use a bullet journal just because I like the flexibility of having everything in one book. Once I've figured out what needs to be done in the day I can portion out my time.

  • I get up at 6am and spend an hour doing The Miracle Morning and then I do the Boho Berry Challenge, have breakfast and a bath (marked in yellow)
  • I blog between 8 and 9 (orange)
  • Between 9 and 12 and 1 and 4:30 I write (purple)
  • At 9pm I get into bed and read for an hour (yellow)
  • At 10pm I go to sleep (blue)
I do it as a coloured line in my bullet journal because that's how I roll, but you can just as easily do it on Google calendar

It just doesn't work as well for me personally.

And on the day itself...

I just do the things.

The key is that you treat appointments with yourself with as much importance and respect as you treat appointments with anyone else! If you've made an appointment in your diary to do a thing, you prepare as you would for any other appointment, turn up and do the work. Simples.

Reasons to be cheerful - 5th October 2017

It's a quickie this week... I'm still loving my job and really glad that I made the move. I submitted two commissioned articles to editors and they were happy. I'm off on a trip, a couple of nights away (more on that next week). Hope you've had a great week too.

Reasons to be cheerful - 7th December 2017

1) After a day of sawing, drilling, cutting, etc, etc, and then a new bit in the boiler...We have gas! Yes, our heating, hot water and cooker are now working - the gas is fixed! SO happy after 12 days without it.

2) This morning Boyzilla was greeted by a dead RAT outside the sitting room. Whilst yucky (but not as yucky as if I'd had to clean it up), it makes me hugely proud that my cats are, well, cats.

3) The two planning tools I ordered for 2018 to help me move forward with my plans to do more writing have arrived and I'm looking forward to spending big chunks of the next four days exploring them and planning for a fantabulous year.
